Amount: Varies pending funding. Award winner(s) will be recognized at the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Graduate Recognition Ceremony and the Ethnic Studies Graduation Commencement Ceremony.

Established by: The Craig & Claire Ihara Award was established in 1998 by Dr. Craig Ihara, the founding Asian American Studies (ASAM) Program Coordinator at CSUF, and his partner, Claire. This award recognizes a graduating ASAM major who has demonstrated exemplary community involvement, combining excellent scholarship with significant community service.
Open to: Academic year (prior Fall, current Spring and Summer) graduating students majoring and minoring in Asian American Studies, with priority given to majors.
Criteria:
- Academic Excellence
- Minimum 3.0 GPA for ASAM major/minor courses and 2.7 overall at CSUF
- Community Involvement - Demonstrated leadership and membership in groups specifically working to promote Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community issues.
