Commitment to Community Collaborations
ASAM provides students with dynamic active learning experiences, produces innovative research, and creates campus-community partnerships. Community engagement is a cornerstone of ASAM’s teaching, research and service activities. ASAM maintains productive relationships with community and student organizations that have created opportunities for unique learning experiences and research opportunities. To nurture these relationships, ASAM has developed the Asian American and Pacific Islander Resource Center (APARC) to serve as a nexus of student, staff, faculty, and community activities in support of student learning and research activities. ASAM also established on-going campus-community partnerships with community-based organizations such as the Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA), governmental agencies, and schools, and successfully applied for internal and external funds.
