ASAM Sparkles

  • Susan Shimazu, along with the Asian American Pacific Islander Faculty Staff Association, spearheaded the successful grant proposal to establish the AAPIFSA-led AAPI Mentoring Program for Faculty and Staff, funded by the CSU Chancellor’s Office.  Davorn Sisavath, Jennifer A. Yee, Tu-Uyen Nguyen, and David Ngo are participating as mentors and mentees.
  • Sarah Ghods presented “Music as a Means of Social Justice” in the HSS Lecture Series, February 21, 2024, and presented “The False Fantasy of Carol: Patriarchy at Play” at the Popular Culture Association National Conference in in Chicago, March 27, 2024.
  • Juben Rabbani published, “Ethnic Studies and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A New Approach to the Bamboo Ceiling”, Currents: Journal of Diversity Scholarship for Social Change 3(1). 2023. Juben Rabbani begins the Ph.D. program in Anthropology at Brown University in Fall 2024.
  • Takahito Tanaka will be 'hooded' this June and receive a Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies from UC Riverside in June 2024.
  • Eric Estuar Reyes has a ceramic vase selected in the group exhibition, “The heART of Orange County All Media 2024 Juried Exhibition” at Chemers Gallery in Tustin, California, April 30-May 11, 2024.
  • Eric Estuar Reyes is preparing for solo exhibition at the Vaikuntha Art Gallery in Taipei, Taiwan, June 15-July 1, 2024.
