Internship Description
SAADA’s Summer Fellowship in Community Archives

An opportunity for undergraduate students entering their junior or senior year or students enrolled in a master’s program to receive hands-on training in community-based archival work. SAADA Summer Fellows will contribute to SAADA’s archive while being immersed in a practicum-style learning environment. This fellowship will complement humanities studies and offer guidance on career opportunities in libraries, archives, and museums. 

This eight-week fellowship will take place from July 7, 2025, through August 29, 2025. The first six weeks of the fellowship will be in person in Philadelphia. The final two weeks will be remote, and include attending the Society of American Archivists annual meeting in Anaheim, CA.

Fellows will receive a $7,000 stipend, along with travel expenses, training in community-based archival practices, exposure to career-readiness opportunities, and a mentor. With the support of their mentor and SAADA staff, each fellow will create an archival collection focused on a group in the South Asian American community of which they are a member, or with which they have a deep existing relationship.

Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center

This internship offers a ten-week cohort-based internship experience. In the Spring and Fall cycles, the internship is part-time (10-17 hours a week) with a $24/hour stipend. In the Summer cycle, the internship is full-time (35 hours a week) with a weekly $850 stipend. The APAC internship offers an in-person experience at the APAC office in Washington, D.C. 

The Center has two internship tracks - Education and Operations.

  • The Education track will: will focus on projects that expand AANHPI representation in K-12 education nationwide and interns’ knowledge of educational platforms and community partnerships.
  • The Operations track will: focuses on projects related to upcoming exhibitions and expanding interns’ knowledge on museum operations and procedures.

The CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA)

The CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA) is a paid nine-week internship program designed for college students and recent graduates passionate about government, civic leadership, and Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities. CLA provides hands-on political experiences that challenge individuals to grow as civic leaders, drive meaningful community change, and advocate for Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities. 

CLA will be an in-person, full-time program (5 days per week: 2 days with CAUSE, 3 days with a Host Office Placement) from June 16th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025. Each intern commits to and receives a full-time internship experience (about 40 hours per week). Hours vary per Host Office Placement. Each intern will receive a $4,000 stipend upon satisfactory completion of the program.

Chinese Historical Society of Southern California

The Chinese Historical Society of Southern California (CHSSC) was organized in November 1975. The mission for the Society is to bring together people with a mutual interest in the important history and historical role of Chinese and Chinese Americans in southern California.  To pursue, preserve and communicate knowledge of this history, and to promote the heritage of the Chinese and Chinese American community in support of a better appreciation of the rich, multicultural society of the United States. Led by a diverse group of members, CHSSC has planned and implemented a wide slate of activities. 

Anyone interested in this unique opportunity to gain valuable public-speaking, teaching and community-service experience.
